What we collect
Your account
- Your email address and a securely stored password, or an identifier from the sign-in service you choose: email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only see Apple's relay address.
- When you created your account and last signed in, and the IP address used, which our sign-in provider records to keep accounts secure.
What you put into Plancake
- Your recipes, meal plans, leftovers and freezer plans, shopping lists, weekly staples, aisle order and settings, so they are backed up and available on your other devices.
- If you turn on calorie tracking, the calories you enter for your recipes. Calorie tracking is off unless you switch it on.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card details. We receive what we need to unlock Plancake Plus: which plan you have, whether it is active, and a transaction reference.

If you email us, we keep your message and our reply so we can help you.
What we don't collect
The app has no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
When you import a recipe from a web link, your phone fetches that page directly; the website you're importing from will see that request as it would if you visited it.

We don't use your data for advertising, sell it, or use it to make automated decisions about you.
Where it's kept and who handles it
Your account and backups are stored with Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which acts as our processor under a data processing agreement. Data is stored in [[FIREBASE_REGION: e.g. London (europe-west2)]]. Google may process some data outside the UK; where it does, it relies on safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Apple and Google process purchases under their own privacy policies. Our website host, Cloudflare, processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
Data is encrypted in transit between your phone and our servers, and Firebase encrypts stored data.
How long we keep it
- Your account and backups: for as long as you have an account.
- After you delete your account: your account and backups are removed within 30 days.
- Support emails: up to 2 years, then deleted.
- Purchase records: Apple and Google keep these under their own rules; we keep transaction references for as long as the law requires for accounting.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your data;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- send your data to you or another service in a usable format.
Email [email protected] and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings → Account & cloud backup → Delete account. This deletes your account and backups.
Can't get into the app? Email [email protected] from the address on your account with the subject "Delete my Plancake account" and we'll delete it for you. If you used Sign in with Apple and hid your email, say so and we'll find your account another way.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Children
Plancake isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking, and loads no content from other companies. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, for security.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
